What to Expect

THE FIRST STEP

The first step is to schedule a 15-20 minute complimentary consultation with me. I will ask you some questions about your concerns in order to determine if I am the best fit and I will give you time to ask me questions so that you can decide if I am a good match for you.

SCHEDULE AN INTAKE APPOINTMENT

The next step is for us to schedule an intake appointment. This meeting often lasts from 60-75 minutes so that there is adequate time for me to gather detailed background information and fully understand your unique needs. All paperwork will be completed on the Simple Practice portal where you will also be able to securely communicate with me and view your future appointments.

FAQs

WHAT DO I DO TO get started?

The first step is to schedule an intake appointment. I try to make therapy as stress-free as possible. All paperwork will be sent to you from the SimplePractice portal and you will be able to sign and complete everything electronically. After contacting me we can schedule a phone call if you have any questions or would like any information before our meeting.

How often are the sessions and how many sessions can I expect to have?

These are difficult questions to answer due to the unique needs of every client. After an initial assessment period, usually 3-4 sessions, I will have gathered sufficient information about the challenges you, your child, or family is facing and the treatment that is needed. At that time we will meet to discuss a plan for treatment.

What if I have to cancel an appointment?

Please let me know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule our meeting. If I am able to reschedule within the same week there will be no charge. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or you do not show up, you will be charged the full fee. I will waive this fee once only in the event of serious or contagious illness, or extreme weather. Please contact me directly by phone or email. If it is a last minute cancellation, do not email as I may not receive your message in sufficient time.

Can I choose between in-person sessions or teletherapy?

I am currently seeing clients in my office, as well as via a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. During our intake session we will discuss both options and determine which is the right fit for you/your family. My office is conveniently located in the Denver Tech Center near the intersection of I-25 and I-225. Click here for directions.

What happens at my first appointment?

Prior to coming to the first appointment, you will receive an email confirming your appointment time. If your meeting will be virtual you will receive a secure link as well. The first session is usually an intake session for the client or parent(s) of a minor. This is an opportunity for me to learn more about you/your child’s history and present functioning. We will review the intake forms which you have completed and discuss your concerns and goals for treatment. If the client is an adolescent, they may wish to join us for this first meeting. It is important that both adults and children feel comfortable with me before committing to an ongoing therapeutic relationship. And don’t worry, you will have the opportunity to ask me whatever questions you might have.

Fees & Insurance

My fee is $195 per 50 minute session. The first intake meeting generally lasts from 60-75 minutes and will be pro-rated based on the amount of time we meet. I maintain a limited number of sliding scale spots in my practice for those whom my fees would be an obstacle.

I accept all major credit cards and HSA cards. Payment is billed directly to your credit card following each session.

Cancellation Policy

My Cancellation Policy: I understand that it may, at times, be necessary to cancel an appointment. To help me be the most efficient and responsible in my use of time, I require that any changes or cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance. Without this notice you will be charged at the set hourly fee. The best way to communicate with me regarding changes or cancellations is by phone. Please do not email this information as it may not be received in time. If you are late for an appointment or need to leave early you will still be charged for the full session. Emergency situations are exceptions to this policy and will be evaluated and discussed on a case-by-case basis.
